The Best Way to Have a Strong Senior High School Ministry
Build a strong Junior High ministry
by Monty Lysne
Last month, I wrote about how central the systems approach of Head to the Heart is to helping churches create a complete Jr. High ministry, not just simply confirmation class. By system, I’m talking about intentional small groups, service, fellowship, consistency, and all the things that help bond kids together over time.
One benefit of focusing on an intentional small group approach is, after confirmation day, you’ll have structures in place to seamlessly move these kids and volunteers into Sr. High ministry. All you’ll need to do is change what the groups will be studying and when they will be meeting.

Thank You Martin Luther!
The gift of scripture and song
by Debbie Streicher
Over the years there have been many lists of the most influential people in history. Martin Luther is listed in the top 100 on more than one list and ranks right up there with Guttenberg, Isaac Newton, Thomas Edison, and Albert Einstein.
On this day 491 years ago, Martin Luther nailed the 95 theses on the door in Wittenberg. If he hadn't done that, I wonder where I would be today. Thank you Martin Luther! Were it not for you we wouldn’t be revolutionizing the way we learn scripture through reading it for ourselves, highlighting it in the Bible, singing and signing it.
I invite you to reflect on the gifts Martin Luther has brought to you in your life and to the life of your congregation. In what ways have you been encouraged to “Keep these words?”

Behold the Signs, Behold the Son
Advent 2008 – Year Cycle B
http://www.faithink.com/Inkubators/advent.asp
Still looking for an Advent curriculum?
The four weeks during Advent are a good time to encourage Christian education and Worship teams to work together and support one another. The goal is to immerse the entire congregation in scripture to experience traveling together as they seek the signs of Christ’s coming during both learning times and at worship services. Then send them home with devotions and the challenge to gather around the advent wreath each night before bedtime to share, read, talk, pray, and bless one another.
In Faith Inkubators’ Advent there are two theme scriptures: “Heaven and earth will pass away but my words will not pass away." Mark 13:31 and "Here am I, the servant of the Lord; let it be with me according to your word." Luke 1:38.
Here are a few suggested parts from the learning materials you could meld with worship…

November Faith Inkubators Community Discussion
What are some of the challenges you've had in the local congregation with introducing visual technology in either learning or worship?
http://store.faithink.com/Membership/Boards/topic....
In last month's newsletter, Debbie Streicher wrote an article called "No! I Can't Worship with that Screen". (You can read it here.) Debbie received a number of great responses to the article. So, we've decided to place the discussion on the Faith Inkbuators Community Discussion Board.
Click here to join the discussion.
Share your challenges and successes with introducing visual technology in learning or worship. Perhaps you feel that visual technology is taking over traditional worship and that isn't a good thing. We would love to hear your opinion.
You can immediately read all postings in the community message board. If you would like to post a message, the message board requires a quick sign-up to create your free message board account. This registration step has reduced the majority of SPAM and has kept the a lot "riff-raff" out of the community making it more enjoyable for all. Thanks for your understanding.
